"Back in November 2018, I realised that I needed to drastically change my lifestyle if I wanted to enjoy retirement to the fullest. I started at home with online workouts from an Edinburgh based PT and started using the MyFitnessPal app. This was working; I was losing weight! However, I knew that I needed to challenge myself further and surround myself with positive influences, and so I decided to join Parkwood.
I had been a previous member of Parkwood a few years ago, so I knew that all the staff and members would be friendly, welcoming and supportive. Even so, it was a bit nerve racking to walk through the doors again back in March. I needn’t have worried, Chris was fab welcoming me back. My first class was a morning Body Pump session. The ladies within the class were just so welcoming, helping me with equipment set up and including me immediately in conversations. After a few weeks, they persuaded me to try other classes as well and I am so chuffed that they did. I thoroughly enjoy Zumba Strong with Jules, Josh’s Sha’bam and the 11am gym OctaFit classes. We have a laugh and I have met so many more people and old colleagues there, who have supported and encouraged me along my journey. All of the staff at Parkwood are so helpful and supportive.
I admit that part of my motivation is to see what others can do and aim to get to that level. On this note, I have to give a special mention to Dan as his encouragement during gym sessions and his Toned class , his ‘you can do it’ attitude has pushed my fitness levels up .
I am now 6 stone lighter over this past year and look forward to continuing with my fitness and weight loss at Parkwood. I have felt so supported and encouraged there that I have just signed up for a years membership rather than monthly and for a Scottish lass, it must be good to hand over that cash!"
